I’ve been reading a biography of the Inklings by Humphrey Carpenter.  The Inklings were a group of writers around Oxford that included J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis.  Why do I say I am nothing?  Because I have suddenly realized how deficient my education thus far has been.  C.S. Lewis by the time he was in University had already read most of the classics as well as enjoying mythology.  He’d even had a book of poetry published.  Tolkien by the time he was 20 (My age now) had begun the cycle that would eventually become The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings trilogy, along with their related mythologies.  These were great men and I’m suddenly realizing my own inadequacies as I look to them.
