This week I’m going to do the top five songs I’ve been listening to.
#5 All the right Moves, OneRepublic
I heard this song for the first time yesterday. I’ve listened to it way too many times since then. It definitely helps cement Ryan Tedder, lead singer, as the leading producer of Epic pop/rock in my opinion. Decent lyrics, great melody, and cool instrumentation. You can watch the video for the song on the OneRepublic website.
#4 Armistice, MuteMath
This is the title track off of MuteMath‘s new album. Definitely continuing the trend of amazing music from this band. I love the delayed guitar, the horns, and the chorus. If you can listen to this song without moving, even a little bit, you have no soul.
#3 It’s my Life/Confessions, Glee Cast
If you aren’t watching Glee yet you aren’t getting all the laughs you can. My girlfriend and I have been watching it for a couple of weeks. I’ve enjoyed the odd mashup in my time, but this one was perfect. Definitely not something you would ever see in a highschool, but still awesome.

#2 Help, I’m alive, Metric
This song is the debut track on Fantasies, Metric‘s latest album and the debut of my enjoyment of Canadian Indie music. Which I had largely dismissed up until this point. The song itself has very different parts, but coalesces into something very interesting to listen to. Rock is definitely not dead.
#1 Although it is the Night, Rob Mathes
Rob Mathes is a man who has been in the Friday Five before. He is often in the background doing arrangements or production for many of the hits you hear on the radio today. This song is a beautiful, haunting look into losing, and finding your way. In contemporary songwriting you need three things to have a great song, Lyrics, Harmony, and Melody. This song is tops in all three areas. Mathes deserves a wider audience than he has.
It is a really really good mashup. Wednesday nights are my one hour of pure fun per week. I’m glad that you’ve found joy in it as well, my friend.
Oh man, it is so hilarious. I look forward to watching an episode with the Antigonish crew in a few weeks. I’ve missed all of the Office so far this season, and apparently thirty rock has begun as well.
It is dangerous coming home to a place with fully loaded cable.
