Today I have a clip from one of my favorite composers: Felix Mendelssohn. I had not heard this piece until I stumbled across it in my iTunes. It may not work here so follow the link to youtube and check it out. I cannot believe how fast the pianist’s hands move.

I’m pretty sure three is not a trend, but all the same I just saw Metric’s video for “Gimme Sympathy.” It is a cool way of doing a one-take video. I would love to see how they choreographed the changes. You’ll see what I mean when you watch it.

I just watched the documentary Life after People from the History Channel. It was a very interesting idea. Their concept was to document the progression of the planet if humanity suddenly disappeared. The music and voice-over give it a distinctly creepy feel; which sort of makes sense given that it is discussing the planet without us. The most interesting part about it though is watching some of the scientists they interview. Their glee at how earth would restore itself when we are gone emanates from the screen. It is unsurprising, especially in the case of the Greenpeace scientist they interview. It is weird though, because if sentience is extinguished from the universe does it really matter if life goes on?
This may be the greatest thing I’ve seen in a week or so. I don’t know the story, I don’t know the reasons, and I don’t care. All I know is that it is absolutely awesome.

I’ve been listening to this song over and over again today. I’m not sure why, maybe I just feel like it sounds. I’d never really paid that much attention to Radiohead until I heard them play 15 Step at the Grammies, now I’m slowly getting used to the rest of In Rainbows. I hope you enjoy it.

Not that this will really be news to anyone but U2 has a new album coming out on Tuesday. From what I’ve heard on Youtube, etc. It is very exciting. I was not initially a fan of Get On Your Boots, but I’ve grown to like it. After seeing this video of Breathe I’m more excited to hear the album when it drops this week. I’m also hoping I’ll get to see them when their tour inevitably brings them through Toronto.

It’s rare that parody is this good. The music kicks in around a minute in. I’m guessing by the “expelled” stamped on the forehead of the guy at the beginning that this is part of the advertising for that Ben Stein documentary. Regardless it is hilarious and the beat is pretty awesome.
